Maison Louis Latour is a family-owned Burgundy house founded in 1797, and the Latour family were already growing vines in the 17th century. The winery at Château Corton Grancey, built in 1834, was the first in France purpose-built to work by gravity.
The house holds 28.63 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards, the largest such holding in the Côte d'Or, among them Corton-Charlemagne, Chambertin, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Chevalier-Montrachet. It also makes Chardonnay in the Ardèche, since 1979, and Pinot Noir in the Var, since 1989.
